news

Jakarta, 4 June 2026 – Interport Sandikala VII has officially commenced its maiden voyage, departing from Tanjung Perak Port in Surabaya to Balikpapan on 4 June 2026. The vessel is expected to complete the journey in approximately four days.

Interport Sandikala VII is the latest semi-container vessel operated by Interport Dirandra Syandana (INDIS), one of Interport’s subsidiaries. Flying the Indonesian flag, the vessel is designed to transport both containers and general cargo, offering flexible cargo space arrangements that enable efficient operations across Indonesia’s diverse waterways and maritime routes.

The vessel measures 67.2 meters in LOA (Long Over All) and 13.3 meters in Beam Moulded, with a carrying capacity of up to 1,400 DWT (Deadweight Tonnage). When fully dedicated to container transport, it can accommodate up to 107 TEUs. Alternatively, when utilized entirely for breakbulk cargo, it can carry up to 1,200 tons of cargo. The vessel also accommodates 12 crew members to ensure smooth and efficient operations throughout each voyage.

In his remarks, INDIS Director Yusuf Indrawarman stated that the maiden voyage of Sandikala VII marks a proud milestone for Interport. The vessel has been introduced to meet operational needs in remote and hard-to-reach areas, particularly for the mining industry, which requires more flexible and reliable logistics solutions.

Interport Sandikala VII has obtained its vessel technical seaworthiness certification from PT Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia (Persero), demonstrating compliance with national maritime standards. These specifications further reinforce Interport’s commitment to delivering flexible, reliable, and trusted logistics and shipping solutions across Indonesia.

To support operational efficiency, the vessel is equipped with a Liebherr Marine Crane with a lifting capacity of up to 40 tons, enabling self-loading and unloading capabilities while facilitating the handling of various cargo types. It also features an Azimuth Thruster propulsion system, providing superior maneuverability and precise navigation, particularly in narrow waterways and during berthing operations. In addition, Interport Sandikala VII is outfitted with advanced navigation and communication systems, including GMDSS with Ship Security Alert System (SSAS), marine radar, GPS, AIS, satellite compass, VHF radio, MF/HF radio, Echosounder, and Navtex. These systems collectively enhance navigational safety, vessel security, and operational reliability throughout its voyages.

The combination of substantial cargo capacity, compact vessel dimensions, and self-sustaining cargo handling capabilities positions Interport Sandikala VII as a strong and competitive logistics solution for a wide range of industries. The vessel is particularly well-suited to support supply chain requirements in the mineral, energy, and other strategic sectors, especially in upstream areas and regions with limited port infrastructure.

Through the maiden voyage of Interport Sandikala VII, Interport further strengthens its commitment to enhancing Indonesia’s maritime connectivity while delivering flexible, safe, and efficient logistics solutions that support the evolving needs of industries across the archipelago.
