Batam, 1 July 2026 – Interport, as a member of the ASEAN Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (AFFA), participated in the Council Mid-Year Meeting 2026, held on June 25–26, 2026, at the Marriott Hotel Harbour Bay in Batam. The meeting, attended by representatives of ten AFFA member associations from across the ASEAN region, discussed strengthening logistics connectivity in response to global dynamics. With the theme “Strengthening ASEAN Logistics Connectivity through Trade Facilitation, Digitalization, Security, and Capacity Development,” this forum brings together various stakeholders to discuss emerging issues in the logistics industry today.

Representing Interport, Yukki Nugrahawan Hanafi as Senior Vice President of FIATA and Chairman of the AFFA Advisory Board, and Vice President Director of PT Interport Mandiri Utama was present as a speaker saying that the selection of Batam as the location of the meeting had strategic significance. According to him, Batam is a concrete example of the success of port connectivity development, trade facilitation, digital transformation, and logistics infrastructure that can enhance the region’s competitiveness.

This meeting took place amid a major transformation of the logistics sector in Southeast Asia. On that occasion, ALFI Central Executive Board Chairman M. Akbar Djohan described the meeting as a timely opportunity; amid changes in the global supply chain, the region must strengthen collaboration to remain competitive. In addition, there are three main areas of focus—trade facilitation, digitalization and security, and human resource capacity building—that will be discussed at this forum.

Meanwhile, AFFA Chairman Chalermsak Karnchanawarin hopes this meeting will produce strategic recommendations and a roadmap for ASEAN logistics development for the 2026–2027 period. This forum also underscores the importance of regional synergy in building a logistics ecosystem that is increasingly integrated, efficient, and globally competitive. At the same time, Batam is projected to become not only an industrial zone but also an ASEAN logistics hub connecting Indonesia to regional and global markets.

Through its support for this forum, Interport is further strengthening its collaboration with logistics industry stakeholders at the regional level while broadening its perspective on policy development, digitalization, and innovation in the logistics sector. This involvement is in line with the company’s commitment to continue providing integrated, adaptive, and competitive logistics and port services.
